Mikael Owusu Addo popularly known as Sarkodie is a Ghanaian recording artist and entertainer. He is also referred to as Obidi Pon Bid. He was born on 10th July 1988 to his mother, Emma Maame Aggrey, a single parent and raised in Tema, being the fourth out of five children.
Sarkodie is considered a major proponent of the Azonto genre and dance. His sophomore album, "Rapperholic" got 12 outstanding nominations and bagged three awards in the 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and won "Best Rapper of the Year".
Sarkodie is an icon of Samsung Mobile. In 2013 he was made icon for FanMilk Ghana. He is also a model for Tigo Telecommunications Ghana.
Sarkodie has his own clothing line Sarks Collection.
