Yaya Toure








Gnegneri Yaya Toure commonly known as Yaya Toure is an Ivorian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier league club Manchester City and the Ivory national team. Yaya Toure has also played centre back, including for FC Barcelona in the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final.

Yaya Toure was born on 13 May, 1983 in Bouake, Cote d'Ivoire. He began his playing career at Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, where he made his debut aged 18. Toure played for Beveren in Belgium, Metalurh Donetsk in Ukraine, Olympiacos in Greece, and AS Monaco in France. In 2007, Toure moved to Barcelona, playing over 100 matches for the club. Yaya Toure then moved to Premiere League club Manchester City in 2010. 

He is the younger brother of his Ivory Coast and former Manchester City teammate Kolo Toure and older brother of Makasa Ibrahim Toure.

In October 2013 Yaya Toure joined a campaign against elephant poaching, becoming a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programe.

Yaya Toure has won several awards including The 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year Award, 2011 CAF African Footballer of the Year and 2012 CAF African Footballer of the Year.
