Kirk Burrell known professionally as MC Hammer is an American rapper and dancer.
MC Hammer was born on March 30, 1962 in Oakland, California, United States. He
is a son of a professional poker player and gambling casino manager, as well as
warehouse supervisor. He grew up poor with his mother (a secretary) and eight
siblings in a small apartment in East Oakland.
MC Hammer married his wife Stephanie on
December 21, 1985. They have five children; three boys named (Bobby, Jeremiah
and Sammy) and two girls (Sarah and A’keiba).

Hammer has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. He has won three Grammy
Awards for Best Rythm and Blues Song (1990), Best Rap Solo (1990) and Best
Music Video: Long Form (1990) taken from “Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em: The
Movie”. He also received eight American music Awards, a People’s Choice Award,
an NAACP Image Awards and the Billboard Diamond Award (the first for a hip hop
artist)
